Nice Matters Award

Wow... Elizabeth awarded me with the "Nice Matters Award..." which is as follows.... “This award is for those bloggers who are nice people; good blog friends and those who inspire good feelings and inspiration. Also for those who are a positive influence on our blogging world." How sweet. I'm supposed to pass this on to 7 people. Um, I am kind of a blog loser and I don't think I know 7 bloggers that would care that I gave them this award... how about just a few then? The award goes to....
1. Julie (pinkmorning)
2. Rachel (likeastar)
3. Laura (gustogirl)
*1-3 are sisters and always leave me the sweetest, most encouraging comments*
4. Lindsey (the daily knack) *who also always leaves me such encouragement*
Pass it on, or don't... but just know that I think you all are great and do inspire me! :) Plus... I know you all know each other so since I awarded you all, I knocked out 3 possibilities for each of you, hehe. :)

AMERICAN IDOLS LIVE!

Friends, there are few times in an almost 24 year old woman's and a 25 year old woman's lives that they can act like 10 year olds and it be ok. Tonight was our night.

I just got home, and I had to post as soon as I did so. I'm such a nerd. The concert was phenominal. Kerry and I went last year, so we decided to make this an annual thing, and get the tickets as birthday presents to each other, since it falls between our birthdays (Kerry's is in July and mine's in September... unleashing the birthday monster early, hehe).

Kerry and me during our pre concert photo shoot... don't you love our maternity style tops?! Neither of us is pregnant, but I for one sure do look well on my way. It's called "fashion," right? hehe

Kerry and me with the American Idol herself, JORDIN SPARKS! She was my favorite the whole time (besides Blake) and she so deserved to win. We were EXTATIC to get to meet her (we stalked the tour buses) and get pictures, she is so down to earth and friendly. I just can't believe she's younger than my baby brother, here Ker and I are yelling for a girl who we well could have babysat a few years ago. Ha.

we couldn't get a good pic, so we gave up. please have mercy on us. we hang out with toddlers all day, it could make anyone crazy.

Such a fun night. I know you're jealous! :)

Fashion

I so love my job. Those kids bring me such joy. Seriously, nannying is so rewarding, not just with the experience, but with what I get back from the kids. I love them as much as I know how... I know it will be different with my own kids, but they sure do reflect that love and let me enjoy the time before I have my own.
I've been meaning to share this Garrett story for awhile... this occurred a while back, but not too far, maybe this past spring. Mind you, this child is 4 1/2.

Garrett: Ashley, you're so funny! You have rips in your jeans! (*sticking his fingers in the holes in my jeans and laughing*)
Me: Garrett, they are not rips. They are called "fashion."
Garrett: Ohhhhh... (*truly absorbing the information*)
A few days later, we were sitting at the table, eating lunch. Garrett, for no apparent reason, begins studying his sock covered foot, turning it over, examining... when he should have been eating his sandwich, over the table, chew with your mouth closed.
Suddenly he gasped and jerked his head up toward me.
Garrett: ASHLEY!!!! LOOK!!! (*lifting his foot up*) MY SOCKS HAVE FASHION ON THEM!!!!!
I looked. Sure enough, a small hole was forming on the heel of the sock.

Now THAT is why I get up and go to "work" everyday. :)

The 1734 Islands

We headed up to Kerry's parents' place in the Thousand Islands this weekend with Kerry and Rob. We had an awesome two days filled with tons of laughter, activities on the river, ICE CREAM, mini golf, sightseeing, and quality time with some of our best friends! And, by the way, there are not 1000 islands in the St. Lawrence... there are more. Just in case you were wondering.

Playing mini golf, right before I hit Kerry in the butt with a golf ball.... that's what you get when you talk back!

Ryan got some good quality reading done on the drive up... and no he is not flipping me off on purpose

Ker and me on Dad Brenner's boat

the sunset

not too sure about this whole waterskiing thing.... I almost got up, but after trying 6 times I gave up. It was a little discouraging, especially after seeing Rob and Kerry waterskiing one handed and practially doing flips across the waves.... actually, I mastered my own type of flip, haha. Oh boy am I sore today.

Thanks for the weekend, guys.... I'm still working to get that water out of my ears! :P

Kitty Collars

Yes, I am a crazy cat lady and I don't care. Meghan brought both kitties collars today and they are so cute! The collars have little bells on them and they freaked the cats out so much! They kept turning around like "Wait, what's that behind me?! Wait, I heard it again!"

Meg with Minkis

Pretty pink collar, hehe

Yes, my life is so dull that I photograph my cats when they are in distress. Can you imagine how I be when I have children?! Here's to hoping for some slightly more interesting events for the next post. ;)

Reminiscing

I get so sidetracked when I'm on the computer. I always end up looking at old pictures... check out this one I found from the day we got engaged (Jan 19, 04)...

Just thought I'd share...

(PS Look at Ryan's hair!)

The Kirnan-Keller-Kitty Sessions

6.3.07

8.7.07

Need I say more?

We had a lovely visit with the Kellers tonight... the therapy went obviously well, other than AJ's jumpy flinches when either of the cats touched her, shaked its head, or looked at her... hehe. Seriously, Ame, I'm proud of you. Oh sorry JK, better give you some face time too....

oh wait... again, need I say more?

Let me know how tonight goes, guys. I'm sure you will feel my pain as I sympathize with yours.... :P LOVE YOU!

Slam That Door

Houston, we have doors! Mom and Dad came out early today and we worked ALL DAY LONG. So happy with our progress. We now have doors on every room and closet! Plus baseboard in the hall and the bedroom is finished being trimmed... ahhhh. Dad and Ryan had to build the door frame out on every entranceway and cut all of the doors down to fit. I now have doors to slam when I'm mad! Watch out!

the buddies working hard:)

Mom and I did some trim paint damage and then tackled the backyard this afternoon.... I wish I had a "before" picture, but let me tell you, we cleared out so much overgrowth, garbage, leaves, and dead trees. We are all scratched and cut up, but it was fun and it looks awesome....

Please, don't mess with us...

Last but not least, Mom and Dad brought Jack out for the ride and he made a new friend... sorta....

Poor Jackie... he's a little scared of cats... who can blame him, what with having to live with psycho kitty Lily at home?

It's such a good feeling to be productive... and it's a good excuse to spend all day with Mom & Dad. :)

Date Night

Tonight Ryan and I went on a nice date... the first time in forever.

here we are on the way there... don't worry the vehicle was at a stop! can you tell the AC was blasting?

We finally got a Cheesecake Factory here in Ra-cha-cha, and despite the fact that I hate cheesecake (ha), I love the restaurant. We did have to wait an hour and a half sitting on a big planter, but it was worth it. I love my husband. And this... maybe a little too much!
